Description Share Post Around the Spider-Verse An Original Graphic Novel Collection written by Jason Reynolds, Roseanne A. Brown and Pablo Leon; illustrated by Penelope Rivera Gaylord and Maca Gil (Scholastic/Marvel) Around the Spider-Verse is a collection of three comic book stories featuring much-loved characters from the Spider-Man universe. The first story, An Uptown Adventure stars Anya Corazon, aka Arana, as she seeks to foil a trap laid by arch-villain Kraven the Hunter at a zoo. Her father, who works at the zoo, is in great danger, as is the city. Arana has to pit her wits and super-skills against a resourceful and wicked foe. In the second story, Miles Morales’ spidey senses are on alert as he joins a tour of the Natural History Museum. The tour guide is acting very suspiciously. Something is definitely off, but even Spider-Man was not expecting a humongous Dino hamster! Only the evil Mysterio could be behind this dastardly plot. It’s a confrontation only Spider-Man could take on. The third and final story, Gwen’s Big Break, Gwen Stacy (Ghost-Spider) is in the middle of a big argument with her band mates The Mary Janes ahead of a major concert. That would be stressful enough, without the appearance of the villainous Jackal. The battle has enormous implications for the city and for Gwen’s future. The quality of the storylines and the fantastic artwork are enough to satisfy any fan of the Spider-Man universe of comics.
