Description Share Post Bear and Bird: The Cloud Jarvis (Walker Books) Bear’s searching for a friend when he arrives at the Woody Woods. However it seems as though ‘all the friends were already taken’. It means that Bear’s convinced that everyone other than him has somebody else. However, could it be that somebody, looking for the ‘Puffy, Fluffy Octopus Cloud’ might offer friendship. Bird’s heard there’s one ‘floating around’ while Bear’s ready for a chance at a friendship. Could books offer hints about clouds? Wouldn’t they be experts if they read? Or maybe, if there weren’t enough pictures in cloud-ish books, they could read others? Thereafter, what about an octopus party? Might it have ‘bubbles, seaweed sandwiches and a cake with eight spoons’? Then again, might there be dancing? However, what about clouds? Then again, what about friendship? Bookwagon adores Jarvis‘s early chapter book series including Bear and Bird: The Stars and Other Stories. However, here, we’re treated to a picture book origin story, wherein we sail in aboard Bear’s boat. What’s more, we see his gentle efforts to form a friendship alongside Bird’s delight at this incomer. How beautiful, tender and insightful? Furthermore, what about the storytelling in the pictures that captivate readers? The pencil and collage, sun tipped illustrations are so encouraging, almost 100 Acre Woods’ like. What a gem! Bookwagon is so happy to welcome aboard Bear and Bird: The Cloud.
