Description Share Post When Tad Kicked Vlad Julian Gough, illustrated by Ross Collins (Faber & Faber) It all started following a misunderstanding and with a hungry boy who spied cake at a birthday party. Vlad loves cake and this was the last slice, but Tad (whose party it is) had his eye on the cake too. Vlad eats the cake. Tad is unhappy and cannot control his temper. He kicks Vlad in the bottom. Now Vlad is angry but Tad has run away, so Vlad kicks Bill. Then a man at the party dressed as a dinosaur gets kicked, then so does the American President, who’s about to go on holiday. The President kicks a pilot then everyone on the plane kicks everyone else. The kick slowly but surely makes it’s way around the world. A year later at Tad’s next birthday party the kick arrives from its journey around the world. Vlad is seeking revenge, so kicks Tad in the bottom. Tad has to get Vlad back, but in a different way, and retaliates by breaking wind in Vlad’s face. Ewww! The chain begins again – everyone is breaking wind, including the President. Then the breakwind begins its journey all around the world. It’s another chain reaction! When will it all end? Hopefully, with a hug and maybe then the hug will make its way around the world… Julian Gough’s story is bound to be a sure hit. It is very funny, ribald and has characteristically brilliant illustrations by Ross Collins
