Description Share Post A Game of Scandal Laura Wood (Scholastic) Over her cards, Felicity appraises her fellow players. There’s the American, keen for a season for his daughter, the gaunt John Johnson, world weary Lord Jasper Covington and Edward Laing. However, it’s only the last whom Felicity needs to watch. After all, isn’t it Edward Laing who is the focus of an investigation by the Aviary? We met this organisation first in The Agency for Scandal. In fact, Laura Wood creates settings wherein we can smell the cigar smoke and tension, alongside hearing the machinations of our heroine’s calculations. It seems that within A Game of Scandal, Felicity will need to have her wits about her. After all, Edward Laing is a dangerous competitor. What’s more, there’s also the disparate and charming, Ash…. Could it be that Edward Laing is a step ahead of the Aviary in this instance? While that crime cracking organisation prides itself on its secrecy and skills, it seems that Laing has it sorted it out and sewn up. Furthermore, he has its agents following up loose ends, leaving Felicity in his lair. Then again, this seems to be the way that her mother likes it. After all, isn’t Felicity’s season all that her mother is interested in? Society? The best match? Meanwhile, Felicity has thoughts filled with mathematics and hopes of a Cambridge career. However, is that possible for a young woman? Bookwagon loves and recommends A Game of Scandal to our older readers.
