That we’re not alone? Harry Woodgate, whom we know from the award winning Grandad’s Camper, demonstrates joy with a graphic poem, What a Joy It Is. Meanwhile, we’ve a wealth of poems that help us remember and grieve. Dredhëza Maloku, for example, recalls On Landing and Leaving Home. Thereafter, she remembers ‘sleeping on your sister’s divan; and ‘calling home from a London payphone‘. Might we feel hopeful? Could it be that while ‘today- is made of lead’ that we’re made hopeful by the knowledge that ‘together/ we carry the weight’? Bookwagon loves Rosemary Wahtola Trommer’s contribution. Then again, Shauna Darling Robertson thinks upon feelings of being ‘Overwhelmed, Anxious, or Like I’m Too Much’. Her poem indicates how hope would ease the anxiety when ‘There is no word/ for nights that reach backwards’. Every time we look into this book, from reading through, to dipping into, we’re delighted and reminiscent. What a beautiful collection!
