Description Share Post National Trust: When Winter Comes Ekaterina Trukhan (Nosy Crow) The end papers offer a suggestion of the season, with their lilac, blue and pink coloured pyramids. However we’re putting on our mittens to ‘run outside to play’. In fact, don’t we do this through each of the My Favourite Seasons’ collection? It’s no different for National Trust: When Winter Comes. However, there might be falling snowflakes. Then again, could this snowfall be disturbed by animal tracks. Where could they lead? There seem to be fewer animals, thought putting out bird feed helps ‘the hungry birds‘. Might we need to clear a path through the snow ‘to the shed‘? Then again, could there be enough snow to ‘whoosh down the hill- wheee!’? If that’s the case, then it seems right to ‘build a snowman‘. How tall might this building become? However, indoors there’s more making. What about ‘gingerbread biscuits‘ that ‘smell spicy and sweet‘? Wouldn’t they go nicely with ‘hot chocolate‘? Like Alice Hemming’s The Snow Thief, we’ve scenes that are possible, and then identifiable with the season. What’s more, these are reinforced by the glossary that invites readers to share what they spotted. For example, wool, or bird feeders, whisks or red berries! Bookwagon is delighted to welcome aboard National Trust: When Winter Comes.
