We see our narrator’s overwhelming struggle and search for answers. In fact, we go from looking at her from an overhead perspective, to drawing close with Nanna. This makes us hear Nanna’s guidance too. Thereafter, could it be that strength isn’t about being a hero, but it might be overcoming battles sometimes by being quiet? Then again, what about speaking up, asking for help, admitting when we’re wrong, alongside making allowances for others? Through the use of nature within the sun twinkled background pictures, we see, we realise, how strength is ever changing, constant and never to be taken for granted. What’s more, it’s the same way for everyone. What a wise and inspiring picture book, ideal for reading aloud, recalling and depending upon! Bookwagon loves this book.
