So could it be that Bert’s ready for a ‘running start’? Might we count down, with a You Can Do It, Bert! Ole Könnecke delights us with his almost audible narrative. We are inclined to participate, it seems. In fact, we want to take in the scene, urge our little red bird forward and thereafter see him succeed! It seems to be a back and forward, a wing over the eyes before… ‘Help’. What is going on? As with Diggers, Dozers & Dumpers, for example, there’s such certainty in the storytelling alongside such clarity in the animated, black outlined illustrations. Furthermore, there’s laughter within the story too, a surprise as we’re drawn into Bert’s exertion. Where will he land? Then again, could there be anyone waiting? Let’s go… You Can Do It, Bert!
