Description Share Post Whack A Moley Bethan Clarke, illustrated by Anders Frang (Little Tiger) Gus the Goat asks Mavis Mole if she wants to play a game with him. He is unimpressed by Mole’s wish to play her favourite game, Tiddlywinks – boring! Goat seems to prefer games that involve Mavis being the fall guy. Among his play suggestions include Mole being hit on the head (Whack a Moley). Or, they could play stack-a-moley, where Mavis is used as a Jenga brick. Naturally, Mavis is disinclined to join in with any of these games. Furthermore, she suggests playing pin the note-y on the goat-y or does Goat-y float-y. These are both games where Gus is on the end of the joke. Perhaps, the two should in the end decides that Tiddlywinks might be the best bet after all? This is a welcome return for Gus and Mavis after their first outing in Holey Moley. It’s a charming, funny and bouncy story with delightful illustrations by Anders Frang and of course text that is perfect for read-aloud. Moreover, the return of some of the supporting characters, such as the cheeky squirrels who delight in Gus and Mavis’s bickering, is also very welcome. There is much to enjoy here with plenty of details to notice and delight in.
