Fire resistant (FR) clothing is designed to prevent the ignition and spread of flame. FR clothing is REQUIRED BY OSHA,  for anyone working around the risk of heat, fire and electrical injuries. There are two main categories of FR clothing: Fire Resistant and Fire Retardant. Fire resistant clothing offers protection at a molecular level, the fire protection levels are permanent and never diminish. Flame Retardant clothing is clothing built from materials that are chemical treated to resist flames and arc flash. The fire resistant properties of these materials will fade overtime and need to be replaced more often than permanent solutions. While permanent fire safety solutions typically cost more initially, the return on investment is so much greater than a chemically treated solution and more likely to prevent burns and serious injury.
